What Is Hastelloy C-276 Pipe?

Key Features

• Outstanding Corrosion Resistance — Performs exceptionally well in both oxidizing and reducing media, including sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, wet chlorine gas, hypochlorite, and chloride-containing solutions.
• Superior Pitting & Crevice Corrosion Resistance — With a PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) typically above 65, C-276 far exceeds conventional duplex stainless steels and austenitic alloys like 316L.
• Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) Immunity — Highly resistant to chloride-induced SCC, a common failure mode for austenitic stainless steels.
• Excellent Weldability — Ultra-low carbon (≤0.01%) and silicon (≤0.08%) content minimizes carbide precipitation in the heat-affected zone. Welds can be used directly without post-weld heat treatment.
• Good Formability — Ductile and easy to form, with elongation ≥40%, allowing fabrication into complex piping configurations.
• High-Temperature Strength — Maintains yield strength above 300 MPa even at elevated temperatures (400–700°C).
